Your Heart Today

Every Sunday, my family joins the choir for the 6 am Mass at our parish. Today, our choir head chose the song "Your Heart Today."

I was deeply touched by the message of the song that I wanted to post it so I can share with you guys. Here are the lyrics of the song and the video. Happy viewing!

Your Heart Today
by Fr. Manuel 'Manoling' Francisco, SJ
sung by Bukas Palad

Where there is fear I can allay
Where there is pain I can heal
Where there are wounds I can bind
And hunger I can fill

REFRAIN:
Lord, grant me courage
Lord, grant me strength
Grant me compassion
That I may be Your heart today

Where there is hate I can confront
Where there are yokes I can release
Where there are captives I can free
And anger I can appease (REFRAIN)

BRIDGE:
When comes the day I dread
To see our broken world
Compel me from my cell grown cold
That Your people I may behold

Where there is fear I can allay
Where there is pain I can heal
Where there are wounds I can bind
And hunger I can fill (REFRAIN)

CODA:
And when I've done all that I could
Yet there are hearts I cannot move
Lord, give me hope
That I may be Your heart today

Finding God in Pop songs

When I'm feeling down, I sometimes pop some random happy music on YouTube to get my mind off my worries. It's funny how sometimes I feel God is speaking to me through some lyrics in random songs.

Today I heard the song from Icona Pop entitled 'All Night' and somehow the words "Everything is alright" keeps repeating in my head.

I realized that maybe God is telling me to stop worrying and that He will take care of the things I'm worried about.

What about you? How does God talk to you through pop songs lately? I'll be glad to know what you think.

Love Song for God

These words were taken from 'Strangers' by 7 Lions, Myon & Shane 54, and Tove Lo. I am unsure if they're Christian but I'm thankful and happy that the chorus of their song reminds me of God. That He is my everything and through Him I am sustained.

YFC-Liveloud releases 4 New Tracks

Manila has once again entered the rainy season. Sometimes all I want to do is curl up on the couch with a blanket, hot cocoa in hand, while listening to some inspirational music.

Included in my latest purchases this season is the new One in the Lord CD compilation by Liveloud.

Liveloud is a movement initiated by the Youth for Christ ministry of Couples for Christ. It was founded on 2009 with the aim of mobilizing the youth and harnessing their creative energies by building a culture of worship for the Lord.

Since its inception in 2009, many members of the Youth for Christ have submitted their original song compositions. Submissions for new songs can be done all year round (contact your YFC youth head if you're interested)!

The One in the Lord CD contains their latest tracks for 2014. Here are some clips of the latest songs with their lyrics.

Do you love you?

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful.

- Psalm 139: 13-14

 --------------------------------------------------------

I was struck by these videos because they speak so much of the struggle of most women today. I am reminded that we should value how God has made us and celebrate the gifts He naturally gave us. I am reminded that I am not only a physical body but a spiritual being as well. Though we are living in a physical world, what truly matters is our heart and soul.

Here are videos from Colbie Caillat, Carrie Underwood, and Rebecca St. James. Enjoy!

Put your make-up on
Get your nails done
Curl your hair
Run the extra mile
Keep it slim so they like you, do they like you?
Get your sexy on
Don't be shy, girl
Take it off
This is what you want, to belong, so they like you
Do you like you?
You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to, give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try
Yooou don't have to try
Oooh
Oooh
Get your shopping on, at the mall, max your credit cards
You don't have to choose, buy it all, so they like you
Do they like you?
Wait a second,
Why, should you care, what they think of you
When you're all alone, by yourself, do you like you?
Do you like you?
You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to, give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing
You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to bend until you break
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try
Yooou don't have to try
Oooh
Oooh
You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to, give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try
You don't have to try
Take your make-up off
Let your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror, at yourself
Don't you like you?
Cause I like you
